About Us

The Florida Department of Education is dedicated to strengthening Florida’s workforce by equipping individuals with the practical skills and training needed to thrive in today’s evolving economy.

Career, Technical, and Adult Education (CTE) plays a vital role in building a stronger, more prepared workforce by offering an alternative to traditional schooling that aligns closely with industry needs. CTE provides key advantages, such as:

  • Accelerated and cost-effective pathways to education and training, helping students enter the workforce sooner.
  • Alignment with industry standards, offering hands-on, practical experiences that directly prepare individuals for real-world job demands.
  • Preparation for specific, in-demand careers, often leading to well-paying jobs and immediate employment opportunities.

To support workforce readiness, the Florida Department of Education champions several initiatives like Get There, Future of Work Florida, and Your Way, all designed to promote workforce education and ensure Florida remains competitive in the modern economy.

About Get There

Get There, Florida’s workforce education initiative, was launched in 2020 to increase awareness of short-term, high-value CTE programs. The initiative highlights the key benefits of rapid credentialing programs available to Floridians at the 28 Florida College System institutions and the 47 technical colleges and centers across Florida. Through Get There, adults can align their interests with a career path and connect with their local institution to enroll.

About Future of Work FLorida

Florida’s middle and high school students — as well as their parents — deserve to learn about all the opportunities and benefits of CTE. Created in 2022 in partnership with the Florida Chamber of Commerce and CareerSource Florida, the Future of Work Florida initiative is the Florida Department of Education’s strategic effort to better inform teens and their families about CTE while also inviting businesses to engage in shaping the future of Florida’s workforce.

About YourWay

When an adult decides they want to earn a high school diploma or improve their English skills, Florida’s adult education programs can help them achieve their goals. Created in 2022, Your Way connects adults to local GED® classes, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes, or both.
